Rachel Hubbard, DDS

Co-Owner | Family & Cosmetic Dentist

After graduating as president of my class at VCU School of Dentistry in 2011, I completed a residency at the Veteran’s Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. Following my graduation from my general practice residency, I worked in a private practice in Williamsburg for a number of years before joining the Sterling Virginia Smiles team in 2015. I am a proud Hokie, having graduated from Virginia Tech in 2006 — I grew up in the area and graduated from Langley High School.

I am thankful for the time I spent working with and learning from my parents, Drs. Mitnick and Herbst. In my free time, my husband, Matt and I stay busy with our three children and two rambunctious dogs. I love to travel and am happiest when my toes are in the sand. Day to day, I find great joy in working out at Burn Bootcamp and playing and coaching soccer.

I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society and Mommy Dentists in Business.

I look forward to being able to serve you soon!

You can call me Dr. K! I was lucky enough to find my passion for serving others at the age of eight when I participated in my first school community service project working with homeless families. As I got older, I realized that my passions for serving others, art and science could all be embodied in Dentistry. To start my journey, I attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN for my undergraduate degree, I returned to where I grew up to attend the University of Louisville to earn my Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry. Following graduation, I went on to participate in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency with East Carolina University where I gained extensive training in cosmetic and esthetic dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery and implant dentistry.

The opportunity arose to be closer to family in the Northern Virginia area so I made the move and I have loved it ever since! I met Dr. Hubbard and we became instant friends. The decision to become a part of the awesome team at Sterling Virginia Smiles was an easy one. I’m thrilled to have a team that shares my dedication to patient-centered care and providing the best experience possible for all our patients. I consider my patients like family and I love helping them achieve their ideal smile and getting back to optimum oral health.

In a world of ever-changing technology, I strive to stay up-to-date on the most current dental methods and techniques in order to provide the highest quality care to my patients with all of their dental needs by attending continuing education seminars.

When I’m not at the office, you can find me spending time with family and friends. My husband and I love to travel around the country and world to explore new cultures and experiences. One of my favorite experiences while traveling has been taking a cooking class in Italy learning to make homemade gnocchi. When I am not traveling, you can find me getting my hands into anything art or craft related. Crafting is another passion of mine. Everything from card making to home decor is on my project list. My newest adventure is cookie baking and decorating. I’m a bit of a foodie and on any given evening you can find my husband and I in the vast array of restaurants in the DMV or trying my hand with recipes at home.

I am an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Virginia Dental Association (VDA), the Northern Virginia Dental Society (NVDS), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). All these Associations provide valuable knowledge in the latest advancements in dentistry that I can then translate into my patient care.

I look forward to being able to serve you soon!
